Cathedral High School is proud to be making a hugely positive impact in the lives of Boston youth through the generosity of our alumni and benefactors.  For the twelfth year in the row, Cathedral just graduated every single student in the senior class. More than that, it will also represent the twelfth year every single senior has been accepted to college.  More than simply getting Boston youth into college, Cathedral instills core values alongside the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed throughout life.

Leslie Deleon is a living example of the success you enable through your generosity. A 2010 graduate from Cathedral, Leslie never expected she would find her passion in life in Mr. Stephen Belyea’s second-floor classroom in the 11th grade. Taking an elective in drafting, Leslie was inspired by the subject matter and her teacher—who continues to inspire future Cathedral graduates.  “Mr. Belyea gave me the confidence to reach my full potential,” said Leslie. “He guided me and his passion became my passion.”

With the encouragement of the dedicated faculty, Leslie created an independent study in advanced drafting her senior year. “She constructed her own class creating plans and elevations for a mulit-level dwelling and acted as a teaching assistant,” explained Mr. Belyea.  From there, Leslie was accepted to Wentworth Institute of Technology where she would earn her bachelor’s degree in architecture and is now wrapping up her Wentworth Master of Architecture program with an astonishing 3.93 GPA.

More than just the inspiration for her career, Leslie also credits Cathedral with instilling her with values. “I grew up on a dirt road and I want to one day build functional structures for people on similar roads in less fortunate countries,” she says of her future plans. In the meantime Leslie gives back through community volunteering.

Our 89-year legacy of teaching values and building leaders is made possible by your generosity. Tuition only covers 14% of Cathedral’s costs to provide a world-class education to Boston youth who, much like yourself, will go on to do great things for our city, community, church, and world. Your online gift today will help ensure this fall’s incoming class of 2021 will have the opportunity to do great things and make a difference like you and like so many of our alumni such as Leslie Deleon.
