James M. Carmody, a respected leader with an illustrious career in the hospitality industry has graced many of Boston’s hallways and boardrooms offering valued insight and initiating positive change for over four decades. As a first-generation American citizen, Carmody has infused his Irish roots and Catholic faith into his lifelong commitment to service, becoming a mainstay in the Boston area.

A graduate of Cornell University and the Culinary Institute of America, Carmody has gleaned hospitality experience and sought excellence in his field by overseeing some of the most prominent properties in the country, including the Seaport Hotel & World Trade Center, the Boston Harbor Hotel, the Four Seasons Mandalay Hotel in Dallas, the Omni International Hotel in Atlanta, and the Ritz-Carlton in Chicago. Jim also served at Tufts-New England Medical Center for 11 years, where he was responsible for clinical ancillary services and hotel services at the tertiary care institution.  Most recently, Mr. Carmody has accepted a senior management role at the Boca Raton Resort and Club in Florida.

While juggling a demanding career, Jim has always prioritized the importance of service becoming involved in an impressive level of community leadership. He has volunteered and raised funds for the American Diabetes Association, Hospitality Homes, The New England Center, Home for Veterans, and Cathedral High School, his alma mater. Mr. Carmody’s affection and dedication to the betterment of his community is reflected in the many boards he has served which include but are not limited to: Caritas Carney Hospital, Greater Boston Convention and Visitors Center, Massachusetts Lodging Association, among countless others.

Jim has been an inspiration to many, particularly at Cathedral High School, and his presence will be missed throughout the Northeast as we begin the 2021-2022 academic year.
