COVID Policy Update – 8/25/2021

Due to ever-changing public health and safety concerns, Cathedral High School will require all faculty, personnel, students, and visitors to Cathedral High School to wear masks regardless of vaccination status. This indoor mask requirement will remain in effect while we gather pertinent data and closely monitor state regulations. By October 1, 2021, we will revisit the mask-mandate policy and update families on our path forward. Safety is our number one concern as we seek to educate and prepare all Cathedral students to be caring and compassionate achievers.

*Students may remove masks during meals, and outdoor activities.

Health Services

Our school nurse, Mrs. Shannon Aikey, will be providing families with health forms and requesting your assistance in completing all required health information documentation for students. Please be on the lookout for your health forms as early as next Tuesday.

Diagnostic Testing at Cathedral High School

As a service to our faculty and students, Cathedral High School will provide COVID-19 diagnostic testing on site.

Symptomatic Testing: (for when individuals present symptoms while at school; individuals should not go to school if experiencing symptoms while at home): Shallow nasal swab samples are collected at school using the BinaxNOW rapid antigen test or another approved diagnostic test.

“Test and Stay” (close contact testing): Shallow nasal swab samples are collected at school using the BinaxNOW rapid antigen test or another approved diagnostic test. Tests are administered daily from the first day of exposure for at least five (5) days.

Our goal is to keep students in school, in classrooms; focused and present in the moment, without disruption. The school nurse will administer tests as needed, and will provide health education, information, and updates on additional policies and protocols. Again, our goal is to keep our students in school learning. Providing on site diagnostic testing is another way Cathedral High School is serving students as a priority in our school mission.
