Enthusiastic crowds gathered at the newly-restored Cathedral of the Holy Cross in Boston’s South End to cheer on the Cathedral High School class of 2019. As the organ played the familiar notes of Pomp and Circumstance, the 69 seniors gladly processed in to accept their diplomas at the 88th Commencement Exercises, earning their place as the 16th consecutive class to achieve 100% college acceptance.
On June 1st, Cathedral Valedictorian Samuel Cintra proudly walked across the newly renovated sanctuary at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross to receive his diploma along with all 69 of his classmates—the 16th consecutive senior class at Cathedral to have achieved 100% graduation and 100% college placement.
Tom DeVesto, founder of Como Audio, is generously volunteering his time this year to advise members of the student-named Innovative Panthers Club—a new club for students interested in technology and product development. The club, which holds its meetings in the school’s new Applied Learning Center, has helped demonstrate the value of Cathedral’s approach to STEAM-based learning.
The Cathedral Panthers girls varsity basketball team extended their dominance of division 4 basketball in Massachusetts, claiming their third state crown in four years. Coach Clinton Lassiter and the team sailed to a 65-36 victory over Hopkins Academy at Worcester Polytechnic Institute on Saturday afternoon capping off a 22-2 season for the Panthers.
Supporters of Cathedral High School from a variety of industries across Boston celebrated the 17th annual Adopt-A-Student Foundation Partnership for Success Dinner on Thursday, October 24 at the Seaport Hotel. More than $1.36 Million was raised to support student scholarships at Cathedral which enables the school’s 320 students to have access to a high-quality Catholic education.
Maintaining close connections to classmates and their alma mater has been a central theme in the efforts of the CHS Alumni Association. Led by Roger Scott ’64, the Alumni Association brought more than 150 alumni and their spouses together for the 37th Annual All-Classes Reunion on Sunday, September 23.
