Senior Week & Graduation Information
Senior week is a special series of events for our graduating class culminating with the official commencement exercises of the school. Below is information on these celebratory events for graduating seniors as well as for their parents and family members.
Last Day for Seniors
Thursday, May 3rd
This will be the last day of scheduled classes for all seniors. All students in grades 7 through 11 will participate in a special “clap-out” ceremony during the school day to congratulate the class of 2018 as they exit the school building.
Friday, May 4, 2018 | 8:00 p.m. to Midnight
The Cathedral High School Prom will be held at Lomardo’s in Randolph, Massachusetts. Doors open at 8 p.m. and doors close at 8:45 p.m. No students or guests will be admitted after 8:45 p.m. Nobody may leave prior to 12 a.m. (midnight) without prior permission from a parent or guardian.
Monday, May 7, 2018 | 9:00 a.m.
This required rehearsal of the commencement exercises will take place at the Shrine and Basilica of our Lady of Perpetual Help (Mission Church). Students will receive their cap and gown following the rehearsal.
Baccalaureate Mass and Senior Awards
Thursday, May 10, 2018 | 5:00 p.m.
Graduating seniors and their families will attend their Baccalaureate Mass in Our Lady’s Chapel on the lower level of the Cathedral of the Holy Cross. No tickets or RSVPs are required. Students must be in the chapel no later than 4:45 p.m. and must wear their graduation gown (no caps).
Senior awards presentations and light refreshments will follow the Mass in Deacon Rosa Hall down the hallway behind Our Lady’s Chapel. All are welcome.
Saturday, May 12, 2018 | 10:00 a.m.
Everything culminates at the 87th Commencement Exercises of Cathedral High School which will be held at the Shrine and Basilica of Our Lady of Perpetual Help (Mission Church) on Tremont Street at 10 a.m. sharp on Saturday, May 12th.
Seniors: All seniors must be at the church no later than 9 a.m. Seniors must wear their cap and gown as well as dress shoes (flip flops and sneakers will not be permitted). Decorations to caps and gowns are not permitted.
Families & Guests: Please be in your seats no later than 9:50 a.m. to allow for the entrance procession to take place without delay. A reminder that commencement takes place in a sacred space and therefore balloons, horns, signs, masks, or any type of noisemakers are not allowed in the church.
Pictures will be taken of each graduate by the school’s designated photographer when he/she receives the diploma from Dr. Santos. In addition, a group photo of the class of 2018 in caps and gowns will be taken. Both of these will be provided to the families at no cost.
